Our board members are dedicated leaders committed to strengthening our community. In this section, you'll learn more about what inspires Angie to serve on the United Way of Reno County board and her vision for the future of our organization.

What motivates you to serve on the board of United Way of Reno County?

I am passionate about Hutchinson and Reno County. I am a Hutchinson native and very proud of the community I choose to live and work in. I would love to see Hutchinson thrive and become an even better place for my kids and grandkids to one day raise a family.

What’s one local cause or issue in Reno County that you're particularly passionate about?

Out of the United Way's four focus areas, financial stability is the area I am most passionate about. Everyone deserves access to transportation, an education, healthy meals, a stable and safe place to live, and access to health care.

What do you believe is the biggest impact that United Way can have in our community?

I believe the biggest impact that United Way can have on our community is by being an advocate for our funded community partners and spreading the word about our focus areas of education, health, financial stability and disaster recovery. It is our job to make sure everyone in Reno County knows that they are supported by United Way and our community partners and where to go for assistance when needed.

What’s your favorite way to spend a Saturday in Reno County?

Our family loves going to out to brunch on Saturdays. Our favorite places to go are Skaets and Day Break Cafe. Sometimes we visit the Farmer's Market and other times we enjoy doing fun things around town such as visiting the Hutchinson Zoo, Dillon Nature Center, Sandhills State Park or playing mini golf at Hutch Putt.

What’s a moment or experience during your time with United Way that has left a lasting impression on you?

When I sat on the Allocations Committee for the United Way in 2024, I was truly inspired by the work that goes into building a better place to live for our community. I wish everyone in our community could have a seat at the table to hear the stories, compassion, and hard work that our local organizations shared over those two days. This process left a lasting impression on me and inspired me to do better.

How do you like to give back to your community outside of your role with United Way?

I like to give back to my community by being involved in many different organizations within Reno County. I am a "big" for Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas, an Advisory Council member for Kansas Children's Service League, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a board member of the Housing Commission. I believe it is important for every member of our community to give back in some way or another. This can be done in various ways; by joining a local board or organization, volunteering your time and talents, and being an advocate for others.
