Our board members are dedicated leaders committed to strengthening our community. In this section, you'll learn more about what inspires Tricia to serve on the United Way of Reno County board and his vision for the future of our organization.
What motivates you to serve on the board of United Way of Reno County?
Being new in my role at Hutchinson Community College, I see being part of the United Way as an opportunity to connect with Hutchinson and Reno County communities in new ways. Is there a need that HutchCC could assist with? Is HutchCC already working on something that could plug into a community effort? etc.
What’s one local cause or issue in Reno County that you're particularly passionate about?
Housing and child care appear to be two of the primary needs in our community. Both of these initiatives tie into current programs and projects at HutchCC. HutchCC's mission is "Expanding the tradition of excellence through learning and collaboration." Plugging HutchCC into a community effort seems a no-brainer.
What do you believe is the biggest impact that United Way can have in our community?
Identifying needs, providing resources, and connecting people and organizations to unite for an effort.
What’s your favorite way to spend a Saturday in Reno County?
Doing something with my family. During the summers, I enjoy browsing the Farmer's Market. Last month we did our own "mural tour" of Hutch. Great artwork!
How do you like to give back to your community outside of your role with United Way?
I enjoy participating in activities as the schedule allows - ball games, Rotary, HEA, YMCA and Cosmosphere boards, etc. When you participate, you hear needs and challenges. I've really enjoyed sharing with others about needs to help make connections.
