Circles of Hope

Circles of Hope centers on low income families who often lack not only financial advantages, but a circle of social assets to guide them. Circles of Hope engages our community to equip families to permanently leave poverty through empowering relationships that build resources and address community-wide barriers. Their mission is to end poverty through empowering circles of relationship and to work together as a community to remove barriers that keep people trapped in poverty.  United Way supports the following Circles programs: Trinity United Methodist and Ave A Elementary sites.

Dolly Parton Imagination Library

Dolly Parton Imagination Library

The Imagination Library provides free, high quality, age-appropriate books to any child age 0 to 5 living in Reno County every month.   The goal is to help foster a love of reading among preschool children and their families by providing them with the gift of a specially selected book each month and to ultimately prepare more kids for kindergarten. Enrollment is open to any child living in Reno County age 0 to 5.  Special recognition to additional financial sponsors in Reno County:  Bretz & Young Injury Lawyers, Hutchinson Rotary Club, Scott & Cathie Strohl, Mark & Susan Richardson, Bank SNB, The Herman, Ester & Hentry Stallman Foundation, The Davis Foundation, Merl Sellers and Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army provides immediate emergency services which sustain a normalcy of life. These services include: food, clothing, shelter, medications, energy assistance, funeral assistance, furniture, and counseling. We also provide a safe place for people to take care of their personal hygiene by providing soap, towels and a place to take a needed shower. We have weekly character building youth activities, and a Monday through Friday After School Program. We also have a payee program where we manage the financial affairs of 120 people.

Reno County VOAD

The mission of the VOAD is to meet the need for ongoing coordination in Reno County providing volunteer, financial, spiritual, physical and/or psychological support for people whose lives have been affected by a disaster in our community. The VOAD is made up of community organizations including the United Way, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Volunteer Center, Local city and county government as well as local faith based organizations.
