What motivates you to serve on the board of United Way of Reno County?

What motivates me to serve on the United Way of Reno County Board is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in addressing the most pressing needs of our community. United Way’s mission to improve lives through education, financial stability, and health aligns closely with my values and my commitment to serving others. I’m inspired by the collective power of individuals and organizations coming together to create lasting change, and I’m proud to contribute to that effort by helping to ensure resources are directed where they are needed most. Serving on the board allows me to give back to the community that has given so much to me and my family.

What’s one local cause or issue in Reno County that you're particularly passionate about?

One local cause I’m particularly passionate about in Reno County is ensuring equitable access to quality education for all children. Education is the foundation for future success, and I believe every student, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves the tools and opportunities to reach their full potential. Whether it’s supporting early childhood programs, enhancing literacy initiatives, or providing resources for social-emotional development, I’m committed to advocating for and investing in efforts that empower students and strengthen our schools. By focusing on education, we can create a ripple effect that benefits families, communities, and the broader future of Reno County.

What do you believe is the biggest impact that United Way can have in our community?

The biggest impact United Way can have in our community is fostering collaboration to address critical needs and create lasting change. By uniting organizations, businesses, and individuals, United Way serves as a bridge that connects resources with the people and programs that need them most. Its ability to focus on key areas such as education, health, and financial stability ensures that the support provided goes beyond short-term fixes and leads to sustainable improvement. In Reno County, United Way’s collective efforts can help strengthen families, empower students, and build a resilient community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

What’s your favorite way to spend a Saturday in Reno County?

My favorite way to spend a Saturday in Reno County is as a proud mom cheering on my child at a baseball or basketball game. There's nothing better than being surrounded by the energy of the crowd and supporting their hard work and passion. After the games, I love spending quality time with my family and catching up with friends, whether it's enjoying a meal together or simply relaxing and sharing stories. Saturdays are the perfect blend of connection, community, and making memories with the people who matter most.

What’s a moment or experience during your time with United Way that has left a lasting impression on you?

One of the most impactful moments during my time with United Way has been witnessing firsthand how the organization steps up during times of crisis. Seeing the incredible support provided to our community during disaster recovery efforts has been truly inspiring. Whether it was helping families rebuild after the fires or providing resources to those in need during challenging times, United Way's ability to rally the community and make a tangible difference left a lasting impression on me. Another highlight has been experiencing the United Way Serve Days, where volunteers come together to create positive change. Watching neighbors work side by side to improve schools, parks, and other community spaces has reinforced for me the power of collective action and the heart of our community. These moments remind me why United Way’s mission is so essential.

How do you like to give back to your community outside of your role with United Way?

Outside of my role with United Way, I give back to my community through my work as the Deputy Superintendent of Hutchinson Public Schools. Every day, I have the privilege of shaping educational opportunities for our students and helping to ensure that our schools provide a supportive and enriching environment for every child. In addition, I proudly serve on the Boys and Girls Club Board, where I help support programs that create safe and empowering spaces for young people in our community. My involvement with the Rotary Board also allows me to contribute to meaningful service projects and initiatives that make a difference locally and beyond. These roles give me the opportunity to collaborate with others who are equally passionate about improving the lives of those in Reno County.
