HUTCHINSON, Kansas – Feb. 4, 2025

United Way of Reno County is proud to announce the successful achievement of its $1.3 million fundraising goal, which will directly support 33 vital programs and services across our community over the next year.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, businesses and volunteers, this year’s fundraising campaign surpassed expectations, ensuring that United Way can continue to empower individuals and families facing challenges. This remarkable accomplishment will positively impact the lives of approximately 25,000 local residents in the coming months, addressing a range of critical needs in the areas of youth opportunity, healthy community, financial security and community resiliency.

“We are incredibly humbled and thankful for the support we’ve received from the community,” said Lacey Mills, UWRC CEO and President. “Reaching this $1.3 million milestone demonstrates the collective effort of everyone who believes in the power of working together to create positive, lasting change. With these funds, we can continue to make a significant impact on thousands of local lives, offering hope, support, and opportunities for a better future.”

This year’s UWRC campaign co-chairs, Angie and Keith Zwickl shared their thankfulness too. “I am extremely grateful to have been a part of campaign this year. It was a wonderful experience and I enjoyed working closely with the team at United Way of Reno County,” said Angie Zwickl. “I am beyond thrilled that we met our goal this year! This could not have been done without the incredible staff of UWRC, the Hype Squad (team of volunteers), the UWRC board, and everyone in the community that graciously donated their time, efforts and dollars.”

“I'm truly grateful to be part of supporting an organization that makes a real difference in our community,” added Keith Zwickl. “It's inspiring to see so many people come together to create positive change and I'm honored to contribute to this meaningful cause,” he stated.

United Way’s commitment to building a stronger, more resilient community is reflected in the diverse programs it supports. From helping fund programs that provide food and shelter to those without, to addressing more specific needs, like supporting a program which offers wheelchair modifications for individuals with mobility challenges, United Way partners with local organizations that are meeting immediate needs, while also working toward long-term solutions. The $1.3 million raised will ensure that these essential programs remain fully funded and accessible to those who need them most in Reno County.
