United Way of Reno County Partners with Boys & Girls Clubs to Transform Youth Lives

HUTCHINSON, KANSAS – United Way of Reno County is proud to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson, a vital part of youth development in the community. Through strategic funding, United Way provides funds that help the Club to provide essential programs and services that empower over 1,400 students annually, from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Lacey Mills, CEO of United Way of Reno County, shares her admiration for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson and their impact on local youth. She explains, "The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson truly transform lives by providing educational support, nurturing character development, and promoting healthy habits. Their dedication to every child's success perfectly mirrors United Way's mission. Together, we're empowering Reno County's youth to thrive and succeed."

Empowering Through Engaging Programs

At the heart of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson are programs designed to promote academic success, character development, and healthy lifestyles. From educational support in Power Hour to leadership opportunities in Keystone and Torch Clubs, every activity is crafted to inspire confidence and equip children with essential life skills.

"Our focus is on creating a supportive community where every child feels valued and empowered," says Lance Patterson, Boys and Girls Club CEO. "Through our diverse programs, we aim to help each young person reach their full potential."

Inclusivity and Support: No Child Left Behind

Central to their mission is inclusivity. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson ensures that all children, regardless of financial circumstances, have access to their programs. Scholarships are available for families in need, and special accommodations are made for students facing unique challenges such as homelessness or foster care.

"We believe in removing barriers to participation and providing a safe space for all children to thrive," emphasizes Patterson. "Our doors are open to every child who needs our support."

Measuring Impact and Setting Goals

To assess their impact, the Club monitors attendance and conducts the National Youth Outcomes Initiative (NYOI) survey annually. This data helps them tailor programs to better meet the needs of their members and track their progress over time.

"Our goal is to see positive growth in academic performance, self-esteem, and overall well-being among our members," explains Patterson. "By engaging regularly with our programs, children develop essential skills that prepare them for future success."

Building Bright Futures Together

Looking ahead, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson continues to expand their offerings to meet the evolving needs of the community. Initiatives like Triple Play, which promotes physical fitness, and Passport to Manhood and SMART Girls, which focus on personal development, play a crucial role in shaping confident, responsible young adults.

"We're committed to providing enriching experiences that prepare our youth for the challenges of tomorrow," says Patterson. "Through collaboration with our community partners, such as United Way of Reno County, we aim to empower every child to thrive."

Celebrating Success Stories

Throughout their history, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson has celebrated numerous success stories. Many alumni credit the Club with providing the support and guidance needed to excel academically, pursue higher education, and become leaders in their communities.

"It's inspiring to witness the positive impact of our programs on the lives of young people," shares Patterson. "We're proud to be a part of their journey toward a brighter future."
