Child Care Links
If I’ve learned anything in my time here at United Way of Reno County, it’s that finding good childcare can be tough and many families might not know about the incredible support available right in our community.
One of those amazing resources for help is Child Care Links. They are an organization that has been in existence since 1975….Who Knew?!?
Awhile back, one of our board members and I went to go visit Beth Carlton, the Executive Director, to learn more about Child Care Links and their work in our community. We were blown away by the programs they run but also by Beth’s heart, passion for what she does, and her dedication to children and providers alike in our community.
Here’s a look at what Child Care Links does that you might not know:
- They have three major programs/focuses: A Food Program for providers, a scholarship program to help families afford childcare (supported by UWRC), and Education for providers in our community.
- They support providers across the state for the food program! 19 counties to be exact--with a focus on home providers!!
- Food Program: Child Care Links runs a food program in partnership with the USDA and Kansas State Department of Education. This program makes sure that kids in family day care homes get healthy meals and snacks, which is crucial for their growth and well-being
- Connecting Families: They help parents find affordable, quality childcare options in the area, making it easier for families to balance work and school while knowing their children are in good hands. If you aren’t sure what providers are located in Reno County, they can help!
- Financial Help: Thanks to scholarships funded by the United Way of Reno County, Child Care Links helps families facing hardships afford childcare. This support can really change lives, making it possible for parents to pursue jobs or education without the childcare burden.
- Training for Providers: The organization offers training and resources to childcare providers, helping them improve their skills and create even better environments for the kids they care for.
- Beth does an amazing job of coming up with unique training ideas to offer providers and also finds ways, big and small, to show them appreciation for their commitment to our youngest minds in the community! She has a closet full of things that she uses to giveaway to providers through trainings!
- Beth….. The heart of Child Care Links is Beth Carlton. She is leading the charge and has been with the agency since 2005. Beth is passionate about helping childcare providers and believes in the power of good nutrition for kids. Her dedication shined through in every aspect of our time together and I can just feel how committed she is to making a real difference in the community.
Child Care Links is an invaluable resource for families and providers alike. They’re all about supporting children in Reno County and ensuring they have the best possible start in life!
