Who Knew - Noel Lodge

Noel Lodge

Noel Lodge, part of the New Beginnings-inc network, does some amazing work in our community. Visiting Noel Lodge was a real eye-opener. Many residents defy common stereotypes, showing that everyone has their own story. And if you have met Kylee or the other staff at the lodge, you can’t help but be inspired by their commitment to serving folks as they arrive at the shelter.

Here’s what I found out about this essential shelter:

  • Full House - Noel Lodge can accommodate 25 residents and is often at full capacity.
  • Day and Overnight Shelter - Noel runs as a day shelter from 7 AM to 3 PM, offering a safe place during those hours.
  • Employed People Need Shelter Too - Last year, Noel Lodge served 308 residents overnight.  About half of those people were employed in our community--dispelling a common myth and proving that people who need shelter come from diverse experiences.
  • Support Beyond Shelter - A resource specialist is on staff at the lodge and helps connect people to job opportunities and other crucial resources, making a big difference in getting folks back on their feet.
  • Meals and Community - The shelter provides three meals a day and aims to build a strong sense of community among its residents. It’s not just about having a place to stay—it’s about feeling connected!
  • Daily Check-Ins - After staying for 30 days, residents meet with a NOEL Lodge staff person each day. These check-ins are all about making daily plans, setting goals and staying focused--helping people feel accomplished and on track.
  • Substance Use Policy - If someone shows up under the influence, they’re turned away—not as a punishment, but to encourage them to seek the help they need. It’s all about creating a supportive environment for ALL at NOEL.
  • Safety and Support - To keep everyone safe, Noel Lodge has certain policies, like turning away those with specific criminal convictions and those under the influence. This helps them provide the best care possible.
  • Family-Friendly - The shelter tries to keep a family-friendly atmosphere, understanding that sometimes children are present. This helps create a welcoming environment for all in need of shelter.
  • Emotional Support Pets - Residents can bring their emotional support pets, as long as they have the right paperwork. Pets play a big role in emotional support, and Noel Lodge gets that.
  • Housing Options - New Beginnings is able to offer transitional housing to those longer-staying Noel residents at their Fox Run property, with 20 units available --including 4 for disability accommodation. For more permanent housing, the team works to connect people with places like Santa Fe, Terra Verda, Walnut Court, and Hutch Lofts.
  • Get Involved - Noel Lodge relies on the generous support of our community.  Donations of hygiene products, food, blankets, and more are always accepted and very much appreciated.
